Big Picnic

Enjoying the Big PicnicCharlotte Hitchmough, Mayor Mervyn Hall and Anna Forbes

Big well done to Anna Forbes and ARK for the picnic at Stonebridge Meadow on Saturday 9th September. Even the rain (which held off for most of the event) didn’t dampen enthusiasm for learning more about everything this special place has to offer. It was good to see families having picnics, pond dipping, learning the skill of fly-casting, creating bug hotels and learning more about wildlife from natural history writer, Peter Marren. This was part of the Stonebridge Get Involved project funded by the Marlborough Local Youth Network.

More information about activities happening at Stonebridge Meadow (jointly owned between ARK and the Town Council) is here - and click here for more photos.

Marlborough St Mary’s CE VC Primary School

Handing over the cheque

Congratulations to Head Teacher, Mrs Anne Schwodler, her hardworking staff and governors and all those who helped raise funds towards equipping the new Marlborough St Mary’s CE VC Primary School which opened its doors for the first time today, Wednesday, 6th September. The evening before, at a special preview, our Mayor, Cllr Mervyn Hall, handed over a grant cheque from the Town Council towards IT equipment ahead of a tour of this fabulous facility which promises to be a real centre of educational excellence. Good luck to all pupils especially those who are going to school for the first time - you have a great school and an exciting future ahead of you.

New Footpath on The Green

new footpath on the greenthe green new path

Pedestrians walking between the Herd Street end of Silverless Street and the crossing on The Green should now find their journey a little easier after our contractors did a great job laying a new footpath to improve the narrow path that was previously there.
Wide enough for buggies and scooters, this new surface not only improves grip but has also removed the problem of loose gravel from the previous path washing down onto the crossing area during wet weather
