Information about the Big Day Out at Marlborough Town Hall22nd June 2025 Marlborough Festival presents a free event, for older and vulnerable adults in the Marlborough area. We particularly hope to reach adults who would not normally consider attending festivals through lack of mobility, or through social isolation. This event has been made possible with the help of Wiltshire Council, the Marlborough Area Board, the Transforming Care of Older People team at KAMP, the organisers of the Town Hall’s free Marlborough Christmas Lunch, and donations from local businesses (including Curate boutique in the High Street, who continue to support us). WE WELCOME EVERYONE, AND WILL FILL AVAILABLE SPACES ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS. WE CAN ACCOMMODATE AROUND 75 GUESTS, PLUS CARERS AS NECESSARY. Please register your interest by emailing: info@marlboroughfestival.com, and letting us know you want to come!
SATURDAY 21ST JUNE, PRIORY GARDENSWe will also have a limited number of tickets available for the Priory Gardens event on Saturday 21st June. For people living inside and outside of Marlborough who identify as elderly/having mobility issues/socially isolated. The tickets cover entry for a carer too, and include a meal. If you feel that you would like to join us on Saturday’s events as well, please get in touch! info@marlboroughfestival.com Schedule 12.30-1.30pm Arrival Guests arrive at the Town Hall, and are taken upstairs to the Assembly Room. There will be volunteers to help with the less mobile. 1.30pm - 2.30pm Afternoon Tea with The Polly Tea Rooms Tea will be served! Tea, finger sandwiches, scones cakes; yum. 2.30pm - 3.30pm Activity: Love to Move, brought to you by Wiltshire & Swindon Sport (WASP) Love to Move is a fun, seated, physical activity session designed by the British Gymnastics Foundation. Using music from the 1950s and 60s, the programme introduces some brain gymnastics, helping to improve cognition. Join in with clapping and tapping, singing and spoken riddles, fun coordination and memory recall. If the movement isn't for you, come along and enjoy the music, there is no pressure to have to do the activity, we just want you to come together and enjoy the FUN ⯑. 4pm - 6.30pm BFI Spotlight Screening of SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN The lovely people at BFI Spotlight are treating us to a classic – starring Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donal O’Connor. ‘A silent film star falls for a chorus girl, just as he and his jealous screen partner are making the difficult transition to talking pictures in 1920s Hollywood.’ A recipe for romance, intrigue and some of the best dancing ever seen on screen! 6.30pm-7pm Carriages …well, minibuses for those that need it, and Shank’s Pony for those that don’t!
