Marlborough Climate Day, Saturday 2 April

{Play}Save the date for the Marlborough Climate Day on Saturday 2 April 2022 from 10am-4pm in the Town Hall and at the Community Fridge.

The theme of the day is "What Can I Do?", focussing on ways we as individuals and a local community can live more sustainably.  The programme will be full of local organisations and businesses running workshops, demos and sharing ideas and resources for how to combat the climate crisis from home.

Some things to look forward to at the Marlborough Climate Day:

- How to build a Rain Garden with ARK

- Zero Waste living for beginners with Hayley from Packaging Not Included

- ‘drop a tonne!’ – Practical solutions for reducing your emissions by Professor David Waltham

- Peat-Free Gardening with Transition Marlborough

- Open day at Marlborough's hugely successful Community Fridge

There will be boards up in the Town Hall all day with post-it notes, pens and volunteers on hand to help start conversations around local climate issues.  This is an opportunity to collect a snapshot of what people are doing for the climate in our local community, offer inspiration to others, and join forces on issues that lots of us care about.  Everyone is welcome to come and add a post-it (or two, or three...) and contribute to the conversation.

For more information or to get involved, please contact Clare Harris charris@marlborough-tc.gov.uk or 07395 793018

This is the first event (maybe of many!) by the Climate Action Working Party, which was set up by the Town Council to action the Council's Climate Emergency Declaration, and includes Councillors, Transition Marlborough, ARK and community volunteers with a passion for climate issues.  So far, the group has been working away in the background, putting together a Climate Action Plan for the Town Council, looking into green audits for the Council and local businesses, and helping respond to consultations on wider climate policy.  Now, the group are organising a Climate Day to bring together lots of local initiatives, organisations and individuals so that people in Marlborough can find out what is out there to help us tackle the climate crisis.
