Macular Society gets a boost
On Thursday 28th January our Mayor visited Marlborough's Macular Support Group, a local self-help support group run for people with macular conditions where she presented a cheque for £500 to Group Leader, Linda Chapman. The group meets at the Wesley Hall on the last Thursday of each month from 1.30 - 3.30 pm and offers practical and emotional support to those suffering from various macular conditions included age-related macular degeneration - an eye condition that causes loss of central vision, usually in both eyes and is the largest cause of sight loss in the developed world.
Treasurer, Susan Lampard said "This is exciting and will help us carry on for a further 12 months". The grant, which was awarded by the Town Council under its Small Grants Scheme, will be used for visits, social activities and speakers. The group is currently looking for a new Secretary and other volunteers who would be willing to help organise activities and visits. If you are interested, please contact Linda Chapman on 01672 512471.
