Peppercorn Rent

On Wednesday, 18th April the Peppercorn Rent ceremony took place in the Town Hall. By tradition this annual tithe is paid by the Merchants House Trust to the Town Council for the rent of the building. And this is a very special year as a long-held ambition to create a town museum has finally come to fruition thanks to some very generous donations and support and a lot of hard work. Those attending had a chance to look round the museum ahead of its opening later this month.
