Taunton CaptionedOn Thursday, 6th October, a small group from Marlborough went along to the South West in Bloom Awards Ceremony at the splendid Somerset County Cricket Ground in Taunton. Well organised with Downton Abbey creator, Lord Julian Fellowes and his entertaining wife, Lady Emma Fellowes, presenting the prizes, our town was welcomed onto the stage to collect awards throughout the day.

And the awards kept on coming, with an incredible 16 awards in total! Congratulations to all those who worked so hard - read the full story here

Marlborough Golf Club takes the Trophy!

cropped golfThe annual golf match for the Rose Bowl Trophy was won this year by the team from Marlborough Golf Club. In spite of valiant efforts by the Town Council team, ably captained by Senior Groundsman, Ryan Atcherley, we conceded defeat to Marlborough Golf Club. Our thanks go to Ryan, Nigel Weatherly, Mike Tupman, Aaron Presley and the players from the 4th Military Battalion who made up our team.

The Mayor handed over the trophy to the home team giving his congratulations to the Marlborough Team Captain for his team's great performance. Our thanks go to the Club in particular Club Captain Trish King and to Alan Pryor for their hospitality in again hosting this event. We're already looking forward to next year's competition!

Calling all High Street Retailers: let's work together to attract even more customers to our fabulous, vibrant High Street!

There's a meeting for retailers and businesses to discuss the Christmas Lights Switch-on, late night shopping, the Neighbourhood Plan and more. It'll be a chance to share ideas. Hosted by the MHSRA (Marlborough High Street Retailers Association), Chamber of Commerce and the Town Council, this meeting is a must for all Marlborough based retailers and businesses based in and around the High Street.

Save the date - Tuesday, 8th November, 6 pm in the Town Hall.

"Marlborough... site of a twice-weekly market, the High Street is one of the widest in the UK and lined on both sides with characterful old buildings housing an array of high quality shops. The town... remains vibrant and progressive with its own chic cafe culture and many independent shops" - VisitWiltshire.  Let's keep it that way!
