Coopers Meadow
Dogs on leads until end September
Each year bird nesting seasons vary. This year, the season will continue until the end of August, and the sheep will be in the meadow until the end of September.
Because of this, new signs are going up in Coopers Meadow asking dog owners to keep their dogs on a short lead until the end of September.
We're lucky to have such a special place, easily accessible, in the centre of town where people of all ages and abilities can watch livestock and wildlife up close. Please help us to keep it that way.
In 2022 a sheep was injured and a cygnet died from injuries because of attacks by dogs that were let off the lead. Any dog can do that even if you think yours won't: please protect wildlife and livestock and keep dogs on leads in Coopers Meadow until after September.
