Freedom March - Thursday 7 October
4 Military Intelligence Battalion to exercise its Freedom of Marlborough.
It is 10 years since Marlborough granted 4MI Battalion the Freedom of Entry to the town, and on Thursday, 7 October at 10am the Battalion will exercise this right to march through Marlborough’s High Street.
Residents may remember back in 2013 that 4MI Battalion exercised its Freedom of Marlborough by marching through the town. This Freedom was granted in June 2011 making it the first Army unit to have been awarded Marlborough’s Freedom of Entry since 1204. An application has been made to Wiltshire Council for a temporary road closure. The closure will take place from 10am – 11am and will be required to cover the length of the High Street. This is to ensure the safety of members of 4MI taking part and also members of the public.
Marlborough has strong links with 4MI who play such an important role supporting events and charities in the town. We hope you’ll join us in supporting and honouring this march.
