Savernake View Care Home
Mayor helps celebrate Savernake View success
On 18 September, our Town Mayor, Councillor Mervyn Hall, accompanied by Town Crier, Mike Tupman, was delighted to attend an event at Savernake View Care Home not only to help celebrate its 3 years in Marlborough, but it being awarded a rating of good from the Care Quality Commission too.
The Porthaven owned care home at Priory Court, Salisbury Road was opened in August 2016 by Angela Rippon and offers residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for the elderly. The award of a good rating from the CQC, which follows a rigorous inspection process, is a huge achievement made possible by a highly trained dedicated staff headed up by Home Manager, Cathy Fountain. The Mayor presented flowers to her and to one of the home’s first residents, Barbara Livingstone. This happy event was well-attended by local dignitaries, residents and their families and all beautifully rounded off with excellent live entertainment from female vintage singing trio, Champagne at the Blitz.
The Care Home also works with the community and is involved in fundraising for local causes, holds events in partnership with Alzheimer Support and this year entered South West in Bloom’s It’s Your Neighbourhood competition, even hosting a lunch for visiting judges.
The Mayor said: “Savernake View offers fantastic facilities for older people. It’s a happy place and the rating from the Care Quality Commission is well deserved. Today’s event was excellent. I met really impressive staff and some fascinating residents with interesting stories to tell, including a hero of mine – Olympic Gold Medallist, Jim Fox. Well done on your success, Savernake!”
