Let's see how many new Dementia Friends we can make in Marlborough - Open Day on 18th May
More than 1,000 people in Wiltshire are expected to sign up as Dementia Friends during Dementia Awareness Week between 15-21 May.
Dementia Friends is a way to help people understand more about what living with dementia can be like. These lively, interactive one-hour sessions have been a hit and so far more than 1.5 million people in England and Wales have signed up.
The Open Day at the Town Hall will run from 10 am – 3 pm with the hour long Dementia Friends sessions running at 10 am, 11.30 am and 1 pm. No need to book, just drop-in. There will also be information stands and experts from the two charities on hand to talk through any memory worries and give other help and guidance. Outgoing Town Mayor, Councillor Margaret Rose said "I've attended as have fellow Councillors and staff. It really makes you stop and think about how dementia affects the everyday life of so many people and their carers". Read more....
