The Court Room takes its name from its history.  The room was used as a magistrate's court with prisoners housed in the cells in the basement.  The raised dais at one end of the room was the magistrate's bench - nowadays used as a perfect platform for hirers to address  the audience.  The accused would be brought up from the cells into the Court Room through a hatch in the floor, which is still there. There's some history on the walls: see "an object lesson in history"

A large bright empty room with large windows along either side. Pillars and arches bisect part and there is a wood panelled platform at one end
