South West in Bloom

What a glorious day for the judges, Kim Parish and Tim Elley, to visit us (Tuesday 19th July). Thanks to everyone who worked so hard. But that was only stage one... the judge was back on Thursday 28th July for It's Your Neighbourhood where we have an incredible 10 entries this year.  Good luck Marlborough!

Karla at the Council

Karla crop

We were delighted to welcome Karla Jackson, a Year 10 student at St John's Academy, who spent a week with us in July 2016. She used a variety of skills in her short time with us working alongside our staff, learning about the way a small local authority works. She toured the town visiting the parks, play areas, cemeteries and other open spaces within the Town Council's responsibilities. Karla also archived some historic documents and took photographs of the upper floors of the Town Hall and even took minutes at a meeting. Thank you for your help, Karla. We wish you well in your studies and future career.

Marlborough's Marvellous Mike Tupman

Tuppers Civic Service

Congratulations to Marlborough's Town Cryer, Mike Tupman, who was crowned the Champion Town Crier of Wiltshire at Bowood House on Saturday, 6th August.

Mike, better known to locals as 'Tuppers', took over the bell from long-serving Alfie Johnson on 7th March and his first official 'shout' was at the Mayor Making ceremony in May. He went along to Bowood expecting to pick up tips rather than the top prize.

Well done Mike!
