Welcome, Councillor Nicholas Awbery

{Play}Meet your new Town Councillor

Councillor Nicholas Awbery formally took up his seat on Thursday, 17 July when he met with Town Clerk Richard Spencer-Williams to sign his Declaration of Acceptance of Office as a Marlborough Town Councillor for the West Ward.

A long-time resident, Nick told us that he is always grateful that he lives in such a beautiful place with a thriving community, and that he champions Marlborough at every opportunity. Finding some time on his hands, he felt now was a good time to step forward.  With several decades’ experience in public service he brings very helpful skills to the Council: education, build projects, safeguarding and a calm, logical approach are just a few.

May 2025 saw the start of a new 4-year council term for Marlborough. As fewer than 16 people put their names forward there was no election for the Town Council: 14 candidates were confirmed and 2 vacant seats remained. The vacancies were advertised to be filled by co-option and on 7 July the Full Council unanimously voted to elect Mr – now Councillor - Awbery to the Marlborough West vacant seat.
