Over £5,000 raised
Charity Gala Dinner
On Friday 14 February - a day that shines the spotlight on love - Town Mayor Councillor Kym-Marie Cleasby hosted a Valentine’s Day Gala Dinner in support of her Mayoral Charity, Love Marlborough Kids Meals.
More than 60 guests enjoyed a three course meal cooked by the volunteers who prepare and deliver the hot meals to kids. There was entertainment from Marlborough Academy of Dance and Drama, The Rogues three-piece band, and a Ceilidh folk dance led by the fantastic Chris Goulding and thanks to local businesses some fabulous raffle prizes were on offer.
The Mayor said “I was deeply moved by the generosity and compassion of the Marlborough community as they rallied to support those facing hardships in our area. It was a truly joyful evening, celebrating love for all.”
Love Marlborough Kids Meals is a charity that provides roast chicken dinners to local families aiming to ensure that no child is left without a nutritious and delicious meal every Friday.
Local mum Anastasia was working with the catering team on the night, and shared her story of struggling herself and receiving meals in the past, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the charity. Cath Williams, Kids Meals coordinator, explained how important it is to continue providing a hot meal for families every week, and thanks to this event, up to 50 local families will continue to benefit from Love Marlborough Kids Meals.
Valentines Day is the day for love and kindness, and this event captured the essence of what that truly means. Our congratulations to our Mayor, Cath Williams and all involved, and many thanks to all those who attended and gave so generously to raise money for this worthwhile cause.
