Alec Light
We are saddened to hear the news that Alec Light has died.
Alec was a popular and very active member of the Marlborough community. He served as a Town Councillor between 2013-2017.
A former Chair of Marlborough Royal British Legion, Alec was involved in the town’s Remembrance events as well as fund-raising for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, and he helped organise the regular car boot sales on Marlborough Common where profits still go to the Air Ambulance. Many people will also remember seeing him around the town, rain or shine, shaking collection tins for the Poppy Appeal and Air Ambulance. Alec also supported the Marlborough Carnival, was a member of The Cherry Orchard and Isbury Road Residents Association (COIRA) and was a driving force behind the children’s play area at Orchard Road which opened in July 2016.
During his Council service Alec served on the Planning, Amenities & Open Spaces, Property and Staffing Committees.
The Town Mayor, Councillor Nicholas Fogg, Councillors and staff would like to express our deepest condolences to Alec’s family, and our heartfelt thanks for his contribution to our community.
