Remembrance
We will remember them at home this year
At the Town Council meeting on 2 November our Mayor, Councillor Mark Cooper announced with great regret that in light of the new restrictions to come into effect across England on 5 November it is clear that our already scaled-down plans for Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day will have to be abandoned. He expressed great sadness because this is such an important event for Marlborough.
Instead our Mayor called for us all to come together with the rest of the nation, at home, and to pay our respects by observing the two minutes silence at 11am on our doorsteps on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.
We have to ask you please not to try to attend either of our war memorials at the usual time even as part of your daily exercise - with no road closure in place it simply won't be safe to do so. You may, of course, make your own arrangements to include this route on your daily walks in the days before and after Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.
