Alfie Johnson
We are sad to share the news that Alfie Johnson has passed away peacefully
Alfie was born in Kingsbury Street on 20 December 1930, and apart from his national service at Bulford and Plymouth, he spent his life in Marlborough where he was a member of the town band, a bell ringer, model maker and hardworking husband and father.
Alfie became Town Crier in 1994 and after many years of loyal service he handed over his bell to current Town Crier Mike Tupman in 2016 due to ill health.
We remember him as a well-known member of the community who loved his town and was certainly loved by Marlborough, which voted him Citizen of the Year in 2014.
