DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday, 24 June, Marlborough will host its first ever community Pride
  event bringing together LGBT+ people, allies, local organisations and supp
 orters for an afternoon and evening of creativity, wellbeing, visibility an
 d celebration.\n\nThe event has been organised to celebrate the diversity o
 f the local community and to demonstrate support for LGBT+ people across Ma
 rlborough and the surrounding area and organisers are delighted to confirm 
 that the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire Sir Andrew Gregory, and the Mayo
 r of Marlborough will be attending the event, demonstrating their support f
 or the LGBT+ community.\n \nThe programme begins at 3.30pm at St Peter’s Ch
 urch, where local LGBT+ youth groups, community members and allies will gat
 her to create banners ahead of the town’s Pride parade.\n\nThe Marlborough 
 Pride Parade will set off at 6.30pm, proceeding through the High Street wit
 h participants carrying banners and messages of support, inclusion and equa
 lity.\n\nFrom 7.00pm, celebrations will continue at St Peter’s Church with 
 refreshments, networking opportunities and a programme of entertainment fea
 turing musical theatre piano open mic and performances from local choirs.\n
 The event comes at a time when many LGBT+ people feel concerned about chall
 enges to equality, inclusion and human rights. Organisers hope the day will
  provide an opportunity for the wider community to come together in a spiri
 t of respect, friendship and solidarity.\n\nOrganiser Rachel Lynes said:\n“
 This event is about visibility, community and belonging. We want LGBT+ peop
 le in Marlborough to know that they are valued, supported and celebrated. W
 e are incredibly grateful for the support we have received from local organ
 isations, community groups and civic leaders, and we look forward to welcom
 ing everyone to what promises to be a positive and uplifting event.”\n\nThe
  event is open to all members of the community, regardless of age, backgrou
