Citizen of the Year 2018
At the Christmas Lights switch-on on Friday 30 November our Mayor announced that Marlborough’s Citizen of the Year for 2018 is Andrew Barnett. Andrew is Marlborough's Group Scout Leader - and a qualified axe-thrower! Andrew says: “One of the best bits about volunteering with the scouts is seeing and making amazing lifelong friends.”
Thank you to everyone who nominated Andrew and others for this award - we have a very worthy winner.
Citizen of the Year - What's it all about
Once again, in Autumn 2018 the Town Council asked for your nominations for those special Marlborough residents who really deserve recognition.
People suggested those who make an outstanding contribution, volunteer their time to help or care for others or work to improve their community, by completing one of our nomination forms.
Candidates must live in Marlborough and Manton and can be any age, including under 18s.
Nominations were returned to us by 4pm on Friday, 26 October. The nominations were considered by Town Councillors for final decision and the winner's name was announced at the Christmas Lights Switch-on event on Friday 30 November.
