Commonwealth Day

fly a flag logo

On Monday, 13th March 2017 and in common with many towns, cities and organisations up and down the country and around the world, Marlborough took part in flying a flag to mark Commonwealth Day. Councillors gathered on the Town Hall steps in glorious early spring sunshine and the Town Mayor read the Commonwealth Affirmation. In the words of the Right Honourable Patricia Scotland QC., Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth is an occasion to acknowledge, publicly and collectively, the continuing aspiration of the Commonwealth to build on common traditions and uphold our shared values of democracy, inclusive development, rule of law, and human rights.
